How to Get Your Iowa Carry Permit

NOTE: You DO NOT have to qualify with a firearm to apply for a carry permit in Iowa.

·        Must be an Iowa resident

·        Take our carry permit course online.

·        Once you pass the written test, you’ll receive a certificate you use as training proof. This Certificate is good for 24 months.

·        Must fill out Iowa Weapons Permit form to submit along with our certificate and check the box in the training section “Handgun safety training course utilizing instructor certified by the National Rifle Association”

·        Applications must be filed with the Sheriff of the county of residence.

·        Pay application fee of $50 for a five (5) year permit

·        Submit completed Iowa Weapons Permit form along with training proof

·        Applicant must have driver’s license or ID with applicant’s current address on it
